Two Men Rob Saks Fifth Avenue Jewelry Section

Police say they smashed the cases with sledgehammers and told people in the area they had guns.

Police are searching for two men who robbed the jewelry section of Saks Fifth Avenue at the Mall at Short Hills on Sunday. Two men wearing ski masks came into the jewelry section with sledgehammers and smashed two glass counters, said Capt. James Miller, police public information officer. The suspects took watches with a combined value in excess of $100,000, according to police. Miller said the two men told the people in the area they had guns and for the bystanders to look away. There were no reported injuries. The two men fled in a black car that was waiting in the parking lot. Police are asking those who have information to contact detectives at 973-564-7017.
