Police Report Thefts at Short Halls Mall This Weekend

Woman took $900 in merchandise from Gucci, while man stole misplaced iPhone from Brookstone.

Millburn police are looking for a woman and a man in connection with two separate alleged shoplifting incidents this past weekend in the Mall at Short Hills, officials said.  According to Millburn police, three women walked in to the Gucci store in the mall at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.  One of the store's managers told police as the women walked around the store he saw one of the women take three belts and put them in her Louis Vuitton purse, each valued at $300.  According to the report, the manager told one of his employees to lock the door leading back into the mall. The women walked to the exit, unlocked the door and walked out of the store into the mall.  When police arrived, officers searched for the three women but couldn't …

Brookstone: the right thing to do would be to put the iPhone (or any item someone leaves behind) in the back and for the rightful owner to come forward with proof that this is his/her phone. Newark Woman Arrested in Alleged Shoplifting from Mall

Millburn police say Bernadette Griffin, 45, of Newark, allegedly stole items, totaling about $8,500, from three stores in Mall at Short Hills Saturday evening.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested early Saturday evening after allegedly attempting to shoplift about $8,500 in merchandise from three stores in the Mall at Short Hills, Millburn police said.  Bernadette Griffin of Newark was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. for alleged shoplifting incidents at Nordstrom and two previous incidents at Macy's and Bloomingdales, officials said.  According to police, a Nordstrom associate watched Griffin allegedly attempt to conceal a Furla Bag in a Macy's bag. The associate reported the incident and the store's security watched Griffin attempt to conceal multiple items throughout the store in her Macy's bags, the report said.  Store security told police, Griffin tried to change her appearance by changing her …

Police: Two Shoplifters Foiled by Mall Security

Zina Rendel, 54, of Marlboro, and Chris Yuen, 27, of Highland Park, were arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents Monday in The Mall at Short Hills.

A man and woman were arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents Monday at The mall at Short Hills , Millburn police said Wednesday. Chris Yuen, 27, of Highland Park, was arrested for attempting to steal two Burberry shirts from Saks Fifth Avenue around 12:20 p.m., police said.  Yuen took two shirts off a display rack and put them in his shopping bag, police said. He then tried to leave the store without paying when security stopped him. Yuen with shoplifting and was released with a mandatory court date. At 3:55 p.m., Nordstrom’s store security caught Zina Rendel, 54, of Marlboro, attempting to steal a gold bracelet valued at $195, police sad. Police Arrest Three Shoplifters at Mall

Juan Morales, 42, of Madison, Rodney Hooker, 27, of Newark, and Wonmo Suh, 34, of New Brunswick, were arrested in three different shoplifting incidents at The Mall at Short Hills.

Three men involved in separate shoplifting incidents at The Mall at Short Hills on Saturday have been arrested, Millburn police said.  In the first arrest, Juan Morales, 42, of Madison, was arrested for attempting to shoplift $1,042.50 of merchandise with a pair of pliers from Saks Fifth Avenue on Feb. 2, police said. Morales attempted to walk out of the store with a concealed Zanga shirt, valued at $147.50, and a Versace jacket, valued at $895, at about 5:30 p.m, police said. The store's security personnel caught Morales and detained him until police arrived. Millburn police searched Morales and found a pair of cutting pliers in his shopping bag. Man Arrested for Stealing Ground Beef, Mozzarella Sticks and Batteries

Michael Meyer, 30, of Springfield, was arrested for shoplifting from Millburn's ShopRite.

Springfield Police arrested a 30-year-old man after allegedly shoplifting $28 worth of groceries from ShopRite in Millburn at about 6 p.m. on Jan. 13, Millburn police officials said.  According to police report, Michael Meyer, of Springfield, entered the food store with an empty black handbag.  The general manager, John Guderian, told police he recognized Meyer from a previous shoplifting incident and watched him place items in his shopping cart. When Meyer paid for the items in his cart, Guderian told police he noticed Meyer's black handbag was full and zipped up.  When approached, Meyer refused to open the bag, claiming it contained personal items, according to the police report.  Guderian told police he continued to ask to see inside …

Mom Takes Her Three Kids Shoplifting

Police say a Brooklyn mom tried to steal 14 items from Bloomingdales in Short Hills.

A Brooklyn women was arrested, while with her three children, for attempting to steal $1,099 worth of merchandise from Bloomingdales in the Short Hills Mall, Millburn police said.  The Brooklyn resident, Mei S. Yip, was seen by Bloomingdales employees picking up 14 items while walking around the store on Aug. 24.  Yip then entered a fitting room with the merchandise. Upon leaving the fitting room, she was seen with a full Bloomingdales's bag. Employees said she didn't have the bag when she went into the dressing room. The Bloomingdales employee checked the dressing room Yip was in and could not find any of the merchandise.  Yip and her children were stopped as she tried to leave the store passing multiple registers, the employee said. …

One woman (black, approx 40 years old) was pulling a rolling suitcase that looked very full and still had price tags hanging. Ridgewood Home Burglarized During the Day

Blotter also includes vandalism to a car and a shoplifting arrest. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sometime on Monday between 5:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone broke into a home on Ridgewood Road in Millburn. The homeowner returned home at 2 p.m. Monday to find that the front door was slightly open and the door frame was damaged. She called police and they checked the house but found no one still on the premises. She then went inside and noticed that two televisions were missing, that the master bedroom was ransacked and a $10,000 diamond tennis bracelet was also missing, as was a container of old coins valued at $500. The Essex County K-9 unit arrived to track the scent and police canvassed the area, but the suspect was not found. Police Blotter: Stolen Audi Recovered in Newark

Arrest information is provided by Millburn Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.

The Millburn Police Department responded on Monday night to The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a stolen car. When they got there at 8:05 p.m., a Livingston resident told them his 4-door black Audi was stolen from parking area D-2 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. This vehicle was later recovered in Newark. Police also three vehicle burglary cases and several shoplifting cases in the last week, as reported in this week’s blotter:

Updated: Shoplifting Suspect Arrested for String of Crimes

Police continued investigation after drama in downtown earlier this month. The following information was provided by the Millburn and Toms River Police Departments and does not indicate a conviction.

A suspected shoplifter and purse snatcher -- who fled police through downtown Millburn earlier this month -- was arrested Wednesday in a joint investigation between police in Millburn and Toms River. Maurice Cohen, 51, of Northfield, NJ, faces multiple charges, including eluding police, theft, robbery, receiving stolen property, and shoplifting, police said. Cohen is a suspect in a spree of thefts from stores and purse snatching -- one that ended with a senior citizen in Toms River being dragged by the car in a grocery parking lot-- in both Essex and Ocean counties, police said. In Millburn, he allegedly fled down a one-way street in a stolen car when police tried to stop him for shoplifting. The car was later recovered near Cohen’s home …

Police Make Mall Shoplifting Arrests

Two New York women are arrested at the mall.

Two New York women were arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents at the Mall at Short Hills. On Saturday, Sadrine Knight, 25, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested and charged with shoplifting and carrying false government documents. Further, there was a warrant for her arrest from Hackensack, according to Millburn police. At just after 3 p.m., police went to the Hollister store at the mall. Knight was in custody at the store for allegedly concealing merchandise in her handbag. Police said the merchandise was valued at $117. Police said she also possessed a false driver's license in someone else's name. On Thursday, Albertina Connor, 46, of New York, was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
