Millburn police arrested Starlett Davis, 27, of Brooklyn, on fraud charges at The mall at Short Hills Saturday.
Police arrested a 27-year-old Brooklyn woman Saturday after she allegedly attempted to purchase a designer purse with a fraudulent credit card in The mall at Short Hills, Millburn police said. According to Capt. Michael Palardy, Starlett Davis was arrested on May 11 on fraud charges at about 2 p.m. Davis attempted to buy a Yves Saint Laurent Bo Sac De Jour purse, valued at $3,156.50, from Nordstrom with a Bank of America card containing a different name, police said. Davis showed the assistant manager a Florida driver's license with Davis's photo but with a different name and information matching the credit card, police said. Police are investigating a string of car break-ins overnight Saturday throughout town where items valued at more than $1,200 were reported stolen, Millburn police say.
Five unlocked cars were burglarized overnight in Millburn Saturday with a variety of items taken totaling more than $1,200, according to Capt. Michael Palardy. In the first incident, a Greenwood Drive resident told police Sunday morning both her and husband's unlocked cars were burglarized between 10:30 p.m. on May 11 and 8:30 a.m. on May 12. The resident reported a $100 Marc Jacobs wallet, John Varvatos sunglasses, valued at $245, and numerous gifts and credit cards were missing, police said. According to the report, the credit cards were reportedly used at Dunkin Donuts and a gas station in Newark. A block away, two Rahway residents told police their unlocked cars were also burglarized between late Saturday night and early Sunday …

A Short Hills man told police he was assaulted and had his iPhone stolen early Saturday morning.
Hoboken police arrested three men on Saturday morning, after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a 27-year-old Short Hills man. The incident occured around 3:15 a.m., police said, when a group of five people allegedly took the man's iPhone — worth $450 — and punched and kicked him, police said. Police were able to apprehend three of the alleged assailants on the corner of First and Washington, according to a police report. Police arrested Union City residents Antholin Bretton, 23, and Michael Castro, 23 as well as 24-year-old Victor Almanzar from Jersey City, according to reports, and charged them with robbery. Joseph Collins, 21, of Clark, and Robert Collins, 29, of Kenilworth, were arrested by Kenilworth police for parking deck incident at the Mall at Short Hills, police say.
Two brothers, who allegedly robbed a 24-year-old man in the parking deck of the mall at Short Hills Saturday, were arrested by Kenilworth police, Millburn police reported. According to police, the 24-year-old man was threatened with a knife by 21-year-old Joseph Collins in the Nordstorm's parking deck at 3:07 p.m. on Feb. 23. A description of Collins and the vehicle from the man robbed led to an investigation by Millburn and police in surrounding towns, police said. A car matching the description was stopped by Kenilworth police and Joseph Collins of Clark and his 29-year-old brother, Robert of Kenilworth were arrested. West Orange, Livingston, Cranford and Scotch Plains residents had their cars broken into in Short Hills last Friday.
Four parked cars in the business parking lots at 51 and 101 John F. Kennedy Parkway across from the The Mall at Short Hills were broken into between 2 and 6 p.m. on Jan. 11, Millburn police said. Scott Dorfman, 31, of Cranford, told police when he entered the parking lot at about 2:30 p.m., he saw a young man in his car searching through his belongings. He told police, someone in a black Chevy Tahoe truck with tinted windows pulled up to Dorfman's car. The driver shouted "let's get out of here," to the man in the car once he saw Dorfman, according to the report. The truck drove off toward JFK Parkway South. Although the township didn't see much rain, the wind caused dozens of down trees and wires. Mayor Sandra Haimoff urged residents to stay in their homes Tuesday morning. Paul Ryan, the Republican party vice presidential nominee, is attending a reception at a Millburn-Short Hills residence Saturday afternoon. The Wisconsin Congressman plans to visits Judy and Bill Greenblatt's home on Stewart Road in Short Hills at 4:30 p.m. Vistors are asked to arrive at 4 p.m. for a security check. The Greenblatts run a non-profit organization, Greenblatt Family Charitable Tr, which provides private grants, according to fundraise.com.
