Millburn H1N1 Clinic Slated for February

Residents can also attend a clinic in Livingston.

Millburn-Short Hills residents of all ages will have the chance to receive a H1N1, or swine flu, vaccine at a clinic scheduled for February. The Millburn Health Department will hold the clinic on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. to noon at the Millburn Public Library. Unlike previous clinics, there are no age restrictions for the clinic. Millburn-Short Hills residents also are eligible to attend a clinic at the Livingston Senior Center on Jan. 28 and 10 a.m. to noon and 6-7:30 p.m. Children ages 6 months through 9 years old who need a second dose of the vaccine can receive it at the clinic. Health Officials Planning H1N1 Clinics

No dates have been set yet, but they'll be either in late January or early February.

The Millburn Health Department is planning a H1N1 flu, or swine flu, vaccination clinic for all those who are interested, but a date has yet to be set. Lou Anello, Millburn health officer, said he is trying to finalize dates for the end of January or early February and a location. One clinic would be held in Millburn, and two would be held in Livingston, at which Millburn residents could also attend. The Millburn clinic would be during the day, and the Livingston clinics would be a day session and an evening session. Unlike previous H1N1 clinics, the ones in the works now would not have restrictions. All age groups could attend and receive a vaccination. Anello said that would include children ages 6 months through 9 years old that need a …

Over 1,000 Kids Inoculated Against Swine Flu

Millburn school officials call the swine flu clinics a success.

About 1,600 children were inoculated against H1N1, or swine flu, during clinics held at Millburn Public Schools last week. "They couldn't have gone better," said Schools Supt. Richard Brodow of the three clinics held at the schools. Clinics were held at Hartshorn Elementary School, Millburn Middle School and Millburn High School. Each clinic was targed for children in the age group for that school. The largest crowd was with the elementary students at Hartshorn. About 800 children were inoculated at the first clinic. The remaining 800 inoculations were evenly distributed over the final two days. Brodow said it's hard to say if the number of people who came to the clinics is what they should have expected, but the district did not run out …

Millburn H1N1 Vaccine Clinics Going Well

The final clinic for the Millburn School District is tonight.

The Millburn School District will hold its final H1N1 vaccination clinic at Millburn High School Thursday night, and school officials report they have been going well. The clinic is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. at the high school. The clinic is aimed at high school students, but children who still need a vaccine from other age groups are welcome. A parent or guardian must accompany the child, and they must bring a signed consent form, which is available on the district's Web site (pdf file). Schools Supt. Richard Brodow said Thursday there were 800 students who came to the first clinic for elementary school students on Tuesday. The clinic at Millburn Middle School on Wednesday was not as busy, but the number of students who were vaccinated was …

H1N1 Vaccine Won't Arrive in Millburn Until After Thanksgiving

School officials outline vaccination clinic plans.

Doses of the swine flu vaccine most likely won't be available to the Millburn Health Department and School District until after Thanksgiving. An update on the vaccinations was posted on the school district's Web site on Thursday afternoon. Nancy Dries, school public information officer, said school officials are in a holding pattern until doses arrive to the health department. Parents indicated earlier this school year in a survey they wanted school officials to hold a vaccination clinic, which school officials have elected to do and are in the process of planning. School-aged children are among those in the high-risk category for swine flu. There would be no cost for the vaccine, which would be available to Millburn-Short Hills students …

Millburn School Officials Setting Plans for Swine Flu Clinics

The vaccine may arrive in the district at the end of October or early November.

The swine flu vaccine has yet to arrive in Millburn-Short Hills, but school officials are already making plans on how to vaccinate children when it does arrive. Schools Supt. Richard Brodow said Tuesday the vaccine could arrive later this month or early November and are waiting to hear when it is to arrive before school officials set dates for flu shot clinics. School officials, however, have finalized some plans for the clinics for when the vaccine does arrive. Brodow said they plan to hold two clinics, one on a weekday after school and a second on a Saturday morning at the Education Center. The vaccine will be free. Additionally, a parent will need to accompany the child when they come to have the flu shot and will need to bring a …

Question of the Week: Will You Immunize Your Child Against H1N1?

See what your neighbors think about the issue.

Millburn school officials are preparing to implement swine flu immunizations in the district's schools, but a poll shows most in New Jersey are not worried about H1N1. But what do area residents feel about the issue? Question: Will you be immunizing your child against H1N1.  Why or why not? Where: Millburn Fire Department Open House Leslie Lombardi, Millburn (with Ava) :  Ava is too young for the shot, but I have a 2-year old who is having it. I trust my doctor and think the dangers of H1N1 far outweigh the risks of the vaccination.  Kelly Cupit, Somerville, (with Casey):  Both my kids are in school and I am definitely planning to have them immunized.  I don't really have any doubts about the vaccine's safety and would rather protect them…

Survey: Parents Want Swine Flu Clinics in Schools

School officials are planning to hold vaccination clinics, but no dates have been set.

Millburn school officials are planning to offer swine flu vaccinations in the schools based on the responses to a survey sent to parents last week. "We've had an overwhelming response of parents who would like this offered to their child," Schools Supt. Richard Brodow said. "We will do it if (the Millburn Health Department) asks us. It makes sense to give it as an option to parents." About 700 families responded to the survey, and 81 percent said they were interested in swine flu, or H1N1, vaccinations in the schools. The responses were split between those who wanted morning and evening clinics. The survey was administered through the district's Web site, and responses are still welcome. Any swine flu vaccine clinic would be voluntary and …
