Millburn shoppers can find their favorites at the Millburn Avenue location.
A taste test published by Huffington Post found that many foods sold at nearby Trader Joe's stores have brand-name pedigrees. Are those foods identical to the big names, though? The Huffington Post report says, "big brands are willing to operate under Trader Joe's cloak of secrecy, under which the 'vendor shall not publicize its business relationship with TJ's in any manner.' " At the Millburn store, Leslie Jardine was ready to name names. "This coffee tastes a lot like Starbucks," she said. "I'm sure the corn puffs are Pirate Booty." Increased recall on peanut products will affect Target, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods as well as Starbucks in the Millburn-Short Hills area.
Millburn stores responded to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's expanded voluntary recall of nut butter products by removing all products possibly contaminated with salmonella from store shelves. The Sunland Inc. recall has more than doubled, to over 240 products, over the last week, in response to a "fast-moving outbreak" of salmonella in 19 states. Recently adding Starbucks to the mix of locally affected businesses, Flying Food Group issued a voluntary recall of the Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box with 'Enjoy By' dates of Aug. 10 to Oct. 6. Peanut Butter products recall comes to Millburn-Short Hills area: Target, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods
A voluntary recall has been issued for additional peanut and nut products manufactured by Sunland, Inc., due to a salmonella risk. A number of the products are sold locally at Trader Joe's and Target. A Food and Drug Administration voluntary recall that started with peanut butter sold at Trader Joe's has expanded to include almond butter, cashew butter, tahnini and roasted blanched peanut products manufactured by the New Mexico company. According to the Food and Drug Administration’s website, the recall is limited to products manufactured between May 1, 2012 and Sept. 24, 2012.
