Ridgewood Home Burglarized During the Day

Blotter also includes vandalism to a car and a shoplifting arrest. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sometime on Monday between 5:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone broke into a home on Ridgewood Road in Millburn. The homeowner returned home at 2 p.m. Monday to find that the front door was slightly open and the door frame was damaged. She called police and they checked the house but found no one still on the premises. She then went inside and noticed that two televisions were missing, that the master bedroom was ransacked and a $10,000 diamond tennis bracelet was also missing, as was a container of old coins valued at $500. The Essex County K-9 unit arrived to track the scent and police canvassed the area, but the suspect was not found. Police Seeking Public's Help with Graffiti, Vandalism Incidents

There have been a number of incidents of graffiti and vandalism in Short Hill and Taylor Park.

Police are seeking the public's help to provide any information in a recent string of vandalism and graffiti incidents throughout Millburn-Short Hills. There has been a string of vandalism and graffiti reported through the last few weeks (see police reports from July 20, July 13, July 6, and June 29) in Taylor Park and sections of Short Hills. The incidents have included paint sprayed onto driveways, roads and buildings. In an incident, someone broke into a garage and poured paint onto a vehicle. Two more incidents have been reported since the police blotter was issued on Monday. On Wednesday, someone spray painted a door on Lakeview Avenue. More Vandalism Reported to Police

Graffiti was found in Taylor Park, and someone threw eggs at a house.

Millburn police are investigating two more vandalism incidents in Millburn-Short Hills, the latest in a series of reports over the past month  (see the police report for June 29, July 6, and July 13). The incidents involved graffiti, paint dumped on cars and eggs thrown at homes. Capt. James Miller, police public information officer, could not be reached immediately for comment. On Thursday, Millburn police received a report of graffiti in the Taylor Park basketball court at just before 10 a.m. The graffiti was painted in two areas of the court. Police Investigate Vandalism, Graffiti

A number of Millburn-Short Hills residents reported more instances of graffiti and vandalism in the last week. Police have reported a number of criminal mischief incidents in the last few weeks (see the police blotter for June 29 and July 6). On Sunday, a Minnsisink Road resident reported someone threw toilet paper and eggs at the residence, and there was graffiti in the driveway, police said. Police believe the incident happened between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Also on Sunday, a Lupine Way homeowner reported graffiti painted on the driveway, a broken egg on the driveway, toilet tissue on the bushes and their car sprayed with plastic spray string, police said.
