Millers Record Improves to 8-5
The Millburn High Girls Volleyball squad took to their home court Monday afternoon against Irvington, looking to extend their two match winning streak. Early in the first set, the Millers jumped out to an 5-2 lead, but it was short-lived as the visitors tied the match at 7 and again at 10 all. Millburn took over the set from that point, on the strength of a kill and service ace from Senior Captain Nicole Weissman and continued stellar play from Freshman Lily Jacobs whose kill gave the Millers a 17-14 lead. Jacobs followed that up with a service ace to up the lead to four points. The home team was able to reach set point at 24-18 with Eliana Sirkin recording two aces. Senior Captain Kerry Justich then closed out the set with a put away …

The Millburn girls junior varsity volleyball team hosted Mount Saint Dominic at home on Wednesday. Mount St. Dominic blasted past Millburn in the first game, building an insurmountable lead that proved too much for the Lady Millers to overcome. The tide turned in game two as Millburn dominated Mount St. Dominic behind the strong serving of Nikki Ruderman and Michelle Pomerantz. The visitors were unable to break serve despite numerous substitutions and shifts. Alyssa Ahn and Isabella Morreale provided key support at the net. The home team took an early lead in game three but then dropped to a tie midway through the game. The Lady Millers took back control by staying more consistent and focused, and the game ended in a decisive victory. …

Miller girls lose in straight games at Columbia
For the Columbia girls volleyball team, it was nice to pick up an easy two-game victory. Most of their matches have consisted of three close matches. For the Millburn girls, the rebuilding process continues as the Blue and White crew is still searching for its first win. The Millburn girls fell to 0-9 on the road at Columbia High School Wednesday afternoon. The Cougar girls took advantage of the Millers in straight games to get back to .500 with under a month to play before the state playoff cutoff date. “They didn’t play well. Obviously, otherwise we have been able to get a win,” said Miller head coach Mikhail Sigolov of his team. “The way my team is playing, I wouldn’t have expected a blowout. Our team has been so up and down.” said …

A look back at last week's games and a peek at this week's action
Rain robbed us of what would have been the biggest match of the season in boys tennis so far last Tuesday when Millburn was to host Delbarton. But by advancing past the quarterfinals of the Bryan Bennett Memorial Tournament, held on Saturday (Delbarton was eliminated), the local boys have certainly proved something. A 3-2 win over defending Group 3 champs, Moorestown, is not only big because the Millers knocked off a good team, but because they likely earned a mental edge over their most likely competition on their quest for a group title. Also, to advance to the semifinals of a tournament as prestigious as the Bryan Bennett speaks volumes as to just how good this team is. Only the best teams in the state can even compete. Even further, as…
