The Weekend: Black History, Jazz and a Wine Tasting

Local Entertainments celebrate Black History Month, Positive Parenting, and Big East.s

The music being performed locally this weekend is good.  Really good. Check out The Religion of Bebop: a Tribute to Dizzy Gillespie, or Jackie Jones singing for the Springfield Avenue Partnership. The Black History Month Celebration at the Maplewood Library also features jazz and drumming, along with readings and stories. Other events include a wine tasting at the Paper Mill, a cook-off in Livingston, and a Big East Game when Seton Hall takes on Rutgers at the Prudential Center. Valentine's Weekend Events: Music, Art and Chocolate

Ten things to do this weekend with your sweetheart.

While Valentine’s Day is not until Tuesday, many will celebrate it this weekend.  Of course, just as many will avoid all mention of love and couplehood.  Single or coupled, there are plenty of events to enjoy locally during the next few days.  The concerts playing in our area run the gamut from chamber music to big band to rock.  Take the Chocolate Walk through Maplewood Village, or experience heart-centered yoga.  Luna Stage is opening a new play, and the kids can create a Valentine painting at Express Yourself Studios.  Read on for the details of these events and others, and feel free to add your own …
