I’m a 17-year resident of West Orange and have been a writer for most of my life (I have a trunk full of unpublished novels, plays and journals – some dating back to the fourth grade – to prove it). I’m now in corporate communications for a New Jersey hospital system, keeping 10,000 employees in the know about the organization’s goals, plans and day-to-day operations. Previously, I worked as a reporter for the West Orange Chronicle, copy editor for Worrall Community Newspapers, and freelance reporter for local magazines, including Matters Magazine and Overlook View. I have a master’s degree in journalism from New York University.

In the beginning of 2011, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought I’d write my way through it, as I’ve done with every difficult experience in my life. Wrong. I’ve written in fits and starts only to close my laptop in frustration. There is so much to say. So I figure sharing some of my story on this blog will give me extra motivation to conquer my writer’s block (selfish, I know). But really, if you dear reader are experiencing a hardship of any kind or know someone who is, I hope my musings can provide comfort and camaraderie.
