MHS Key Club is Searching For Community Support

The club has always been part of the international community-service organization, Kiwanis International until recently.

The Millburn High School Key Club is searching for community members to start a Kiwanis club, in which members would lend a hand to improve the town and sponsor the Key Club.

"Millburn has never had a Kiwanis Club," Millburn Schools Communications Coordinator Nancy Dries said. "Studenst are hoping to encourage the community to start the club."

The club is inviting all community members, including residents employees and businesses, to an informational meeting at the high school on Monday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

The club has always been part of the international community-service organization, Kiwanis International until recently.

Millburn was previously sponsored by a Springfield Kiwanis Club but over the last year the organization folded leaving the high school's Key Club without a sponsor.

The Key Club hopes to become only the fifth Key Club to establish a new Kiwanis organization in their community.

Sponsoring a Key Club is not all Kiwanis does — the club is also a community service organization to support the needs of Millburn Township.

Kiwanis Clubs sponsors local activities for families and youth, and in many communities, they were some of the first to provide support during Hurricane Sandy. Internationally and locally, Kiwanis helps make a positive impact.

In Livingston, the club dredged a pond that had gone unattended and made it useful for summer picnics and winter skating.
